As an artist, Christine Chang signs her name "c zing c".  She is originally from New York, but has lived, worked and exhibited in New York, Boston, San Francisco; Dublin, Ireland and Paris, France. She studied mathematics and art at Smith College.  In addition to being a painter, Christine had professionally been a director and programmer in computer animation and special effects, She left her production career and is now a realtor for Hammond Residential, covering Belmont, Cambridge, Watertown and Arlington, MA.

Christine paints with oil or acrylic on canvas in a few diverse styles.  In her landscape, still life and figure paintings, compositional choices are made, influenced by the aesthetics of photography.  Objects are purposely cropped, employing the “accidental", and focuses attention on reality suggesting abstract forms.  Though some of the paintings may be more realistic, there is no interest in hyper-realism.  In fact, the textures given by brushwork on canvas and pastel strokes on paper are most important to the artist.  An emphasis is given to framing the images, elevating the mundane, drawing attention to the beauty in everyday objects and scenes.  She recently returned from 2 years in Paris and her current work reflects this. She has focused on French scenes, particularly the distinctive Parisian rooftops, and close-up still lives of the beautiful produce. In addition, she paints commissioned pet paintings.
