statement

My current work is a collection of things and places that captured my attention in the past year.

I have a long standing love for flowers and am fortunate to have many to admire in my neighborhood – old favorites and always something new to appreciate. I enjoy going to different locales to find those that are different - be it an expansive garden, botanical gardens, a window box or something from a shop. I find that while an entire blossom may be beautiful the inner structure can be fascinating.

I don’t often go out seeking something specific to photograph. Cities, beaches and woodlands all capture my interest and I look for different aspects of a subject to portray and enjoy presenting them in a way that requires the viewer to think about what they are actually seeing.

My prints are primarily digital prints using pigment inks and matte or watercolor papers. I rarely do any extensive alterations. Adjustments are for brightness and contrast and cropping to a specific size. If I do any major “photoshopping” it is usually obvious. Most of the photographs are shot using a Nikon digital SLR although I still use my 35mm cameras for some of my black and white work.
