about the artist / work

My work investigates the gestalt of visual perception and is guided by the transformative possibilities of materials to provoke experiences both haptic and liminal. I use basic, stripped-down materials --plaster, wire, fabric, wood, plastic, metal, paper-- many of which are leftovers or throwaways, to construct objects that invite multiple interpretations.

Over time, these forms accumulate and change the whole when they take their place among the group. Individual sculptures are intended to stand on their own, yet the interplay among the pieces in the group is what I'm after. Each material brings its own "junk" to the party, and when the junk starts mixing is when things get interesting.
