Statement
My paintings tend to be either abstracts with earthy connotations or landscapes that have been softly abstracted. Color is the main focus in the paintings that has been applied in thin layers which adds a depth and intensity to the painting surface. I like to merge color with simple shapes to create a sense of space with minimal detail. The landscapes are meditations on the natural world. I hope to convey my deep awe and respect for nature. The work is about a place were careful observations of the world and inner vision meet. Color is emotive and I hope to capture the feeling of a place as opposed to a realistic rendering of the landscapes. This is much more exciting and I think effective way of conveying a sense of a place. I like leaving a certain amount of vagueness in my work. The viewer can feel free to use their own sense of what the painting means to them. Everyone has there own special places where they have visited and hopefully my work brings them back there.
